BlueTooth Enabled Handheld Diagnostic Tool
Our customer approached us with an old Palm Pilot device that was used to test their equipment. This Palm Pilot was obsolete and could not be purchased anymore. Furthermore, when the batteries on the device were discharged, the Palm Pilot would lose the testing application making it difficult for the end user to deal with. We were asked to build a diagnostic tool that would replace the Palm Pilot.
We simplified the tool by reducing the interface to two buttons and four indicator LEDs. Pressing the Order button cycles through four different canned orders to test the RS232 communication of the Automated Beverage Dispensing system machine. A Bluetooth module was added to the hardware design of the new device so that it could pair with a mobile device. We developed an application that end users can download from the Google Play and IOS app store. The app was designed to allow the service technicians to customize and send drink combinations.
